About the project:

During a recent Asbestos Management Survey, asbestos insulation board cladding was identified to the structural beams within the first floor office area. Deconstruct were selected by the client’s consultant to remove the asbestos whilst this busy branch remained operational. Under fully controlled conditions, it was first necessary to remove the underlying mineral fibre ceilings and insulation. Removal of the asbestos insulation board was then completed before the area was subjected to rigorous clearance testing by the client’s consultant.

Project challenges:

The branch is located on a busy town centre street and access was very limited. It was imperative that the branch remained fully operational and that trading was not affected by our works. The asbestos removal operation was therefore completed over a series of nights. Access had to be maintained to staff welfare areas during the course of the works. Services within the working area remained live and our operatives had to be extremely careful when working around and cleaning these. Space at the branch was very limited and it was necessary to utilise a modular decontamination unit as opposed to a traditional mobile unit.
