Asbestos removal from within a vacant office block in South London.

About the project:
The building has been acquired by Criterion Capital Ltd who plan to convert it into a residential block. Asbestos insulation board was present throughout the building in a variety of applications, much of which had been damaged since the building was mothballed some years ago.
Project challenges:
Following a refurbishment and demolition asbestos survey, Deconstruct were appointed to remove all known asbestos from throughout the tower. The tower had stood empty for a considerable amount of time, so operatives were faced with significant amounts of pigeon guano as well as damp and mould infestation. Much of the asbestos boarding had been damaged and the surrounding areas had to be decontaminated before work to remove the boarding could commence. All power within the building had been isolated so it was necessary for generators to be used.
