The Lucan

In a collaborative effort, Deconstruct and our sister company, De Group Contracting, proudly secured the demolition and enabling package for The Lucan project on behalf of our esteemed client, Gulf Islamic Investments. This distinctive project involves the transformation of a former police station, a structure comprised of a mix of low-level one-, two-, and four-storey buildings, featuring a basement that spans the entire footprint of the site.

Anticipated to be a benchmark in high-quality, mixed-use development, The Lucan seamlessly integrates residential, social, and community spaces. The envisioned eight-storey building is meticulously designed to harmonise with its local context, respecting the scale, massing, and materiality of the area. This thoughtful approach not only addresses a spectrum of local needs but also contributes to the enhancement of the public realm.

The Lucan stands as a testament to our commitment to both precision in demolition and the creation of spaces that enrich the fabric of the community.

Embarking on this transformative journey, our initial focus centered on the strategic demolition of low-level structures, paving the way for a seamless logistical distribution, loading, and off-loading process. This precision allowed us to confine these activities within the site footprint, offering a significant advantage to the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.

With low-level structures cleared, our approach evolved. A mobile crane took center stage, skillfully lifting demolition equipment to the roof level. The four-storey structures underwent a top-down, urban demolition, showcasing our commitment to efficient and strategic project execution.

Recognising the intricacies of the project, temporary raking props were thoughtfully installed along the retained perimeter walls. This strategic move provided crucial support during the demolition of upper floors, ensuring stability and precision as the ground floor and basement slabs underwent their own transformation.

In this intricate dance of deconstruction, every step is a testament to our commitment to not only meeting project objectives but exceeding expectations, ensuring a harmonious and efficient process from the ground up.

Our sister company DEGC take immense pride in announcing the completion of The Lucan’s structural concrete frame, a milestone achieved through the unwavering dedication of the DEGC & client’s teams. The project’s unique blend of location, design intricacies, and challenges has been a privilege to undertake, underscoring their commitment to excellence in boutique, high-end residential builds.

They now progress with the next phase of the project, with the delivery of the envelope and interior fit-out in line with clients’ distinct and exceptional vision.
